Visit ‘One Day’ shooting location at Noboribetsu

In this entry, I will take you to Noboribetsu city, a popular tourist destination for onsen with one-hour drive from Sapporo. Aside from onsen, there is an interesting natural attraction to explore. One of which is Jigokudani Hell Valley that recently has become a must go destination for Thai since one of the movie’s memorable scene was shooting here. In short, it is the scene that makes the audience barely breath as the main actress (Khun Nui) asks the main actor (Den Chai) to make an eye contact with her for one minute and the one who loses the sight first will be a loser.

Now let’s see why the director chose this place to be the filming location.

It’s because Hell Valley offers an impressive view over the source of hot spring. The place dotted with hot steam vents spouting sulphur-containing steam that helps added romantic to the scene. You can really smell sulphur from afar. Although some may say that the smell is not pleasant, anyway I feel that this natural phenomenon is something you should witness with your own eyes and nose.

Moreover, the place offers a wooden footbridge, enables you to get up close to the spectacular nature. On the walk way in this volcanic area, you will see the beautiful nature that will vary each season. By mid-October to early November, you will experience the foliage on the mountain that turns orange and red in color throughout the mountain. Or in the winter, from mid-November to early March, you will find a pathway full of snow contrast with the orange color of brassie soil where the hot water flows through.

For transportation, traveling to this city is very convenience even if you’re not driving. You can take JR train from JR Sapporo Station to JR Noboribetsu Station. It takes only 1 hour 15 minutes. Then take bus line Noboribetsu – Onsen for 15 minutes to the city. The valley is 15 minutes away from the city, thus, you can stroll around the city first because there will be a giant statue, a popular symbolic of the city, located throughout the town waiting for you to be stunned.
